Sick and tired of all that Barry Manilow taking up space on your playlist? Check these Five Asian DJ’s you need to know about! Read on to find out and hear more.
EDM Is taking over the world. Literally the whole world loves the revival of dance music. With the constant flow of catchy beats and emotionally filled lyrics, it can be seen as one of the most universal genres of accepted music. So we have our top 5 Asian DJ’s you need to listen to right now, each with their own special style.
1) Steve Aoki
Coming from the Benihana (yes the food flipping, samurai chefs ‘Benihana’) Dynasty and blood relative to the sexy Devon Aoki, Steve Aoki grew his fan base one cake at a time. Known as the Asian Jesus for his long hair and wild antics, from stage diving to throwing excessive loads of pastries at his fans, he works hard everyday of the year with a diverse group of musicians, such as Tiesto, Linkin Park, and the Bloody Beetroots. You will most likely see him at the main stage of a big festival rave very soon, now that he plans to work alongside Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike to form ‘3 Are Legend’ all of which are highly ranked on DJ Mags top 100 DJ’s.
Check out some of the Steve Aoki’s popular work, old & new.
2) Henry Fong
If you like Asian’s with long hair, we have another special DJ for you. With his unique dreadlocks, Henry Fong takes over the decks with an intense club DJ style that keeps you dancing all night long. Formerly a hip-hop DJ, he became bored with the style and went on to playing EDM. Well, that got him fired but got him popular with the college kids. Henry has only grown from there moving on to bigger and better thing. He has been recognized by many music fanatics as the next upcoming star of 2015 and the years ahead.
Check out his electro house style. Just don’t dance too hard.
3) Tokimonsta
Don’t worry fellas, we have a female for you, and she’s a looker. The LA Korean native definitely has her own unique electronic style which is less energetic but still worth a listen on your chill days. Working alongside Skrillex at OWSLA, she has made a name for herself for remixing big names like Justin Timberlake, Tinashe, and Lupe Fiasco. She was also recently featured in a KIA commercial with Lupe himself as they drive around the LA streets to Toki’s new remix.
If you dig her Tumblr-Girl style, you’ll dig her tracks too.
4) Giraffage
Playing to what’s been called the new wave of R&B music, Giraffage is one of many young DJ’s who created these futuristic electronic tracks. Moving down his career, he decided to do more bootleg remixes instead of original tracks and the feedback has been phenomenal. Definitely a more relaxed style but don’t get it twisted, his tracks will definitely make you want to move. If you expect to see him soon at the next event, I suggest finding a special someone to dance with. Lucky for you, he’s on tour right now.
Get ready for that good night with some of his tracks here.
5) Instant! Party
Instant! Party comes out with tracks almost all the time. If you’re tired of the radio and need a new trap remix of a song, Instant! Party comes to the rescue like bagged noodles. Quick. For an unsigned artist, he works a lot on producing tracks all the time, and even got noticed by Diplo on his Diplo & Friend’s: Unsigned Artists Edition. If diplo thinks he’s dope, then he’s got my vote too.
Follow him and see how instant he can make the party turn up.

6) ZHU (Asian?)
Just like the the rest of the EDM universe, we have no idea who he is. The supposed Steven Zhu has remained masked, curating an elaborate prank done alongside Skrillex which left many convinced, shocked, and in disbelief. But I don’t really care, his music is on point and the rest of the EDM community agrees. His deep electronic style works alongside well strung chords and an addictive drug-induced lyricism.
Get Faded with Zhu’s Cocaine Model.
