Before there was Instagram, before there was Twitter, and yes even before there was Facebook there was a predominant social network that was all the rage.

No.. not that one but good guess.

We are talking about MYSPACE the most popular social network site on the interwebz back in the earl 2000’s. And on that site there reigned supreme a friend everyone had to have.

Wrong again.

We are talking about Tila Tequila, the Myspace darling that was a pioneer in using social networking as a platform to venture into a lucrative entertainment career. For some of our younger readers this may seem like old hat considering the Youtube and Instagram stars of today, but in the early to mid 2000’s Tila Tequila was an O.G. of social networking.

I’ll give you two big reasons for her popularity. 1. Aggressive self promotion 2. Repetition of brand recognition. Oh and BOOBS we forgot boobs.

Point is Tila Tequila was able to take her internet street hustling method of self promotion on Myspace and parlay that into a career that includes modeling, a Playboy spread, reality television, music (if you can call it that), book deals, and even porn.

Although her 15 minutes of fame may be arguably nearing its end what with her incredibly confusing and offensive Anti-Semitic rants as of late and the fact that even Juggalos don’t like her, still Tila definitely was a major part of the first decade of the new millennium for better or worse.
