Approximately last night, Tesla showed off some new technology for their latest car models. Their latest model is currently nicknamed “Model S with a D.” There are 3 new models based off the S sedan, with one of them being a high-end super car that goes 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. It’s electric. It’s fast. And the new technology is sick.
The P85D is the tentative model number for the most high end version of the car, and features several new technologies that we haven’t yet seen in any production vehicle to-date. The most impressive is the self-driving feature, which automatically scans the road for traffic limits and slows or speeds down in accordance to those limits. The feature can also detect cars around you so that it will stop if you’re driving behind a stopped or slower car. They won’t be 100% self-driven, but these will be the first cars to have a few autonomy features, it’s still not meant to be 100% self-driven… yet (but they do self-park).
Lane changes are performed automatically for you if you activate your turn signal. The car detects whether there are cars to the left or right and then safely makes the lane change.
Check the video for some more highlights.
The base MSRP for the three models, 60D, 85D, and P85D, will be $89,570, $97,570, and $120,170 respectively. Rich Asian people, are you listening? Maybe this car will help you drive a little bit better.
