Nikita Penalosa is a cute tiny import model from California. We recently got a chance to discuss several different topics about her including her modeling career and love life. Enjoy the interview.
AmpedAsia.com: Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Nikita Penalosa: I’m 19 years old. I was born and raised in California as an only child. I graduated highschool when I was 16 and went to career college to be a dental assistant. I moved to San Jose from Los Angeles to start a new begining when I finished school. I ended up working at Hooters of Campbell, and that is where my modeling career all began.
AmpedAsia.com: What made you want to start modeling?
Nikita Penalosa: Well ever since I was a young girl I was always approached to do commercial work & acting. My parents always thought school was more important, which is why I graduated early. I entered my first bikini contest in April 2011, and thats where it all started.
AmpedAsia.com: Have you encountered any obstacles to your modeling career?
Nikita Penalosa: I don’t feel as if I have encountered any major obstacles in my career. I always try to be the best I can be always, and push myself to be better.
AmpedAsia.com: So since you said you haven’t encountered any obstacles, let’s talk about your successes. What have been some great projects you’ve been a part of or opportunities you’ve gotten as a model?
NP: Being Miss Redline Time Attacks Round 4 finalist. It was only the second Bikini Contest I entered & I won. Also being an official spokesmodel for Import Fashion. They are like family to me. I am also thankful for the travel experiences & amazing photographers I have gotten the opportunity to work with.
AmpedAsia.com: You’re only 5′ 1″, so you’re much shorter than what people usually think of when they think model. Give some tips for the girls out there that are shorter and how they can succeed as a model.
NP: Even though I am very short. I am pretty proportionate for my size. It doesn’t come easy though. I am usually in the gym everyday. I love being active, eating healthy & I am also pescatarian (only seafood). Be confident in yourself. Don’t let your height define you.
Glamour modeling is one of the few genres for girls shorter than 5’9. To get jobs you first need to establish yourself as a model. Create a modeling portfolio & put yourself on some networking websites.
AmpedAsia.com: Is modeling your full-time job or do you have a day job to support yourself?
NP: Modeling is a full-time job for me. I also work part time at Hooters.
AmpedAsia.com: Currently are you single or taken?
NP: I am taken.
AmpedAsia.com: What attracts you to a man?
NP: Someone who carries himself well. Physical traits would be being tall, dark & “Asian-looking,” but intelligence and confidence is sexy.
AmpedAsia.com: If you were single, what’s the best way to approach you for a date?
NP: I guess the best way to approach me is not to be so forward. I like taking things slow and being friends first.
AmpedAsia.com: What’s the #1 mistake you think guys make when they date?
NP: I think the biggest mistake that not only guys make, girls too sometimes. Dating someone who is attached to someone else like their ex. When you break up with someone you need time to heal, trying to get with someone else is just going to end up hurting you and your rebound. Don’t date someone who just got out of a relationship.
