Our March Asian Hottie Next Door is Melissa Paige Phan, if you go to UT Austin, then you probably do literally live right next door to her. She’s got beauty and brains all packed into one cute package. Check out her interview below.
AmpedAsia: What’s your ethnicity and where are you from?
Melissa Paige Phan: I am French and Vietnamese, with a little bit of Chinese. And I am from the beautiful Austin, Texas!
AmpedAsia: What made you want to try out modeling?
Melissa Paige Phan: As a child, my mother would encourage me to go to casting calls for acting. Which eventually led to modeling promos. Then as I got older, I just did it for fun and really enjoyed it.
AmpedAsia: So what are you studying in college?
Melissa Paige Phan: I am a double major in Architecture and Advertising! I am minoring in Business Foundations as well.
AmpedAsia: What do you want to do for a living?
Melissa Paige Phan: I am working towards becoming an art director and eventually building my own advertising firm. I also have the desire to open my own chain of yoga studios in on the side as well!
AmpedAsia: Seems like your pretty ambitious, but have you ever thought about doing modeling for a career or something in the entertainment industry?
Melissa Paige Phan: Becoming an actress is my dream job! I would definitely look into pursuing that career after I graduate. I never really thought about modeling as a career though.
AmpedAsia: Are you doing anything towards achieving your acting career or plan to do anything?
Melissa Paige Phan: I actually tried out for Harry Potter as a child and received a letter from the casting director noting that I had to live in Europe to get the part… I stopped trying after that. Lol.
AmpedAsia: Tell us a story about a crazy thing that’s happened to you?
Melissa Paige Phan: I met my boyfriend on 5th street in Austin one random night and never saw him again for like 5 months. We became Facebook friends and little did I know, he lived only like 10 minutes from my home in the Dallas area.
AmpedAsia: What is something your mom doesn’t know about you?
Melissa Paige Phan: My mom literally knows everything about me. If there was anything she didn’t know already, she’ll probably find out later!
AmpedAsia: So you mentioned you had a boyfriend, how did you guys meet?
Melissa Paige Phan: He came up to my friend and I one night and invited us to an after-party (which my friend and I didn’t even end up going to). We exchanged numbers, became Facebook friends, kept in touch, and hung out for the first time at one of his fraternity parties months later.
AmpedAsia: Haha do you remember his pick up line?
Melissa Paige Phan: Lol he just kind of awkwardly said “hey.”
AmpedAsia: What made you attracted to him?
Melissa Paige Phan: I actually thought nothing of dating him at the time. Just felt that I met an awesome friend… until we hung out. The first time we hung out, we just clicked. I’ve never met anyone that’s made me laugh so much in my life. That attracted me to him.
AmpedAsia: In general, do you have a “type” that you like?
Melissa Paige Phan: Guys with light eyes kill me inside. I melt a little inside when I see light eyes lol. I also love big arms. Other than that, I don’t really have a type lol.
AmpedAsia: What’s your biggest turn-off?
Melissa Paige Phan: Definitely a feminine straight guy. I freak out when a straight guy lays his head on my shoulder or acts womanly. Seriously, be a man. Lol.
AmpedAsia: So you seem like you party a lot, what tip would you give for a guy to approach girls at the club/party and whats the best way you like to be approached?
Melissa Paige Phan: School always comes first! But there is always time for a good party. As a guy, I would always approach a girl with confidence. Girls like confident guys. There’s something about confident (sometimes even cocky) men that always attracts a woman. Of course, you should always be chivalrous. Every woman wants a chivalrous man.
AmpedAsia: What are the top things you think that a man does to display confidence?
Melissa Paige Phan: There’s good confidence and there’s bad confidence. I see good confidence in being able to joke and laugh at yourself and I see confidence in being sarcastic. But of course, you’d have to have good-natured sarcasm.
AmpedAsia: Where can we find you online?
Melissa Paige Phan: Check me out at melissapaigephan.tumblr.com
