Imagine 3 Asian dudes dressed up as Pokemon trainers, emos, and superheroes using pick-up lines referencing Disney, wrestling, vaginas, and penises. Their latest episode has them paired with Russian YouTuber VitalyzdTV, where they pick up girls using ridiculous pickup lines through an earpiece.
Simple Pickup is blowing up. Ever since launching their YouTube channel in 2011, they’ve gotten 85 million video views and 750,000 subscribers. Recently they’ve launched a new initiative called Project Go, where they teach other guys how to pick-up girls.
What I love about Simple Pickup is the fact that they are smashing stereotypes and limiting beliefs. These are three Asian fellas, not too different from you or me, that are dating tons of beautiful women all the time. Watching these videos, you’ll be in awe of how ridiculously ballsy these three guys are, and perhaps all you lonely men will want to get out there yourselves.
What’s really important is the fact that these guys are all ASIAN. Kong is Vietnamese, Jesse is Indian, and Jason is half-Japanese. As an Asian guy, I can relate to these guys. Too many Asian guys make the excuse “I’m Asian, she’ll never like me.” But the great thing about these fellas is that they’re proving that Asian guys can get as many girls as White guys or Black guys.
But these three weren’t good with women their whole lives. All three were once terrified of girls until they made it a point to DGAF (don’t give a fuck) and start breaking out of their shells.
We were given a great privilege to interview these three bosses about their lives and improving oneself in the realm of picking up girls. Enjoy!
What are 3 things one can do to learn how to be better with women?
1) ACTUALLY TALK TO GIRLS! Guys think they need to learn all these fancy lines and tricks. But the truth is, if you’re not actually getting out there and meeting girls – then you might as well spend your time masturbating.
2) Find a passion in life. Having things going on in your life besides your next Warcraft raid is very important. Get a hobby, explore the world. Our second channel, SimplePickup2 reinforces this idea. We do crazy things like cliff diving and parasailing to show our audience how fun life can be. Once you start enjoying life girls will naturally start gravitating to you.
3) Learn to love rejection. This is every man’s #1 fear when it comes to women. This is just part of the game. We get rejected constantly. Here’s a secret for getting over rejection: view it as being funny. This completely changed the way that I viewed getting rejected by a girl. Once you view things as being hilarious, it’s pretty hard to take it seriously.
What are the biggest challenges you guys have faced while learning how to get better with girls?
The initial hump is the hardest part of learning this. Pushing yourself to go out and work through the first few weeks/months. The beginning is always the hardest. After you start doing it for a while it simply becomes second nature. Once that happens, you’ll find that having a hot girl wake up next to you in the morning is a normal occurrence. It’s awesome.
Every journey has low points, will you share your low points in the pursuit of learning pick-up?
We all have had some life-changing low points. But my (Kong’s) personal low-point was when I dressed up like a ridiculous clown and painted my nails black – just to get attention from girls. It was sad because I truly believed that if I made myself look like someone who I wasn’t, it would make girls like me. It took me a long time to realize that was bullshit. The truth is not EVERY girl is going to like you for who you are. And you need to be OK with that. Once I realized this, I started getting laid. I stopped dressing like a moron, and just dressed like myself. I just learned to be comfortable in my own skin.
During each of your pursuits to becoming good with girls, have there been any A-HA moments?
I have A-HA moments every single day. But one that I recently had was realizing that I could go a lot farther with girls during the day. I always believed that making out with a girl that I just met that day was far-fetched… until we started doing it.
Which episode has been your favorite to film so far?
Hmm.. that’s a tough one. But, I’d have to go with the collaboration we did with Prank vs Prank (below). We were fed lines through an earpiece and had to pick-up girls while following the instructions in our ear. I think it’s safe to say that, that was the WEIRDEST stuff I’ve ever done/said to a girl. When did each of you first get laid, and how long were you studying pick-up before that happened?
It took Jesse and Kong roughly 6 months to get laid after starting to learn this. We made a LOT of mistakes and didn’t know what the fuck we were doing. That’s why it took so long. Once we recruited Jason, we knew exactly what he needed to do to get good fast. He started getting laid right away because he followed our instructions to a T.
