You are going to want to get caught in her web and be at the mercy of whatever she wants to do to you. Read on to find out more about Jeanette Lee.
Before Iggy Azalea was making hit songs named after them and before Scarlet Johansson was making nerd boy wet dreams come true, there was another O.G. black widow out there named Jeanette Lee.
Born in Brooklyn, (STAND UP!) New York, Jeanette Lee started hustling the pool tables in 1989, a year when some of our readers were not even born yet.
Nicknamed the “Black Widow” by fans, friends, and opponents she beat, the nickname refers to the juxtaposition of Lee’s sweet demeanor with her insatiable appetite to not only beat opponents but fully dominate them. Many even went as far as to say the Korean pool player did the closest thing to “eating alive” her opponents as possible on a pool table.
This nickname paired with Lee’s more than willingness to embrace it has led her to become one of the top pool players ever in women’s professional billiards. Clad in her trademark black colored and often leather wardrobe, she was consistently ranked number one throughout her career in the 1990’s by the Women’s Professional Billiard Association. She was even the WPBA Sportsperson of the Year in 1998, and even took a gold medal at the 2001 World Games in Akita, Japan.
Jeanette Lee made a game where you hit a bunch of balls around with a stick sexy, but more importantly showed that a women could hang in an often male dominated sport. Here’s to Jeanette Lee the Black Widow we would love to have break our balls anytime.
