Chinese parents can be tough to say the least, but this story of harsh parenting is ridiculous. Read on to find out more.
Everyone Asia kid knows this first hand: Asian parents can be tough. Like mercilessly tough. Soul crushingly so even.
But don’t take our word and trauma filled childhoods for it, let’s take a look at a recent story of some extreme parenting coming out of Qingdao, China.
Recently a 16 year old girl was seen atop a 4th floor window crying uncontrollable and threatening to take her own life by jumping. The girl began living with her grandmother after her parents divorced and was inconsolably distraught after her parents would not allow her to attend school thus leading to her suicide attempt.
After a large crowd formed hoping to prevent the loss of a young girl’s life, police and even the girl’s father became involved in the rescue effort.
At first her father began aiding in the mission to get the girl down peacefully from the 4th floor window, until communication seemed to break down resulting in the father to scream, “Jump if you dare!”
The father was wisely removed from the situation and eventually the young girl was pulled away from the window after being distracted by the police.
Was this a case of extreme Asian parenting tough love or a broken family at their wit’s end? We do not dare begin to answer that ver difficult and loaded question.
What we do know is if you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts encouraging them to end it all is never the answer. Hopefully this family can resolve their issues and go on to live healthy and loving lives.
