As an Asian man, I used to face a lot of fashion and image problems. One of the main problems was that I was never able to find clothes that fit me great right off the rack. Another problem was that I didn’t know what to do with my hair. My mom always cut my hair and gave me the Asian bowl cut.
But luckily, as a I grew older and wiser I found solutions to my problems. I felt more confident about myself and also got more attention from the ladies. I hope my article sheds some light on the style and fashion issues that you might have and helps you to learn how to remedy them.
My article lists common problems that Asians face and my solutions to those problems. I’ve written this article to be relevant for both men and women.
Problem: Short Height
Asians aren’t known to be especially tall, and for some people that’s a huge confidence shaker. Both Asian men and women would love to be a little taller, but men especially have height-related problems. Men often can have their self-esteem shaken considerably if they are shorter than a woman or if they perceive themselves as less alpha as other men.
Remedy: For girls, wear the highest heels you can, whenever you can. I’d suggest a 3-inch minimum, which can fit with almost any outfit, and go up to 6-7 inches when you’re out on the town and really want to look sexy. Wear clothing that fit snugly, showing off the curves of your body. Doing cardio exercises will help you achieve skinnier legs which will give you the illusion of a taller body. If you do have skinny legs, wear a skirt that exposes them or tight jeans that emphasize the length of your legs.
For guys, fitted clothes can add inches to your height. Hip-hop loose baggy clothing won’t make you look tall. Having good posture is very key. By not slouching and by keeping a straight back, you can add almost an inch or two on your height. If you’re on the chubby side get in the best shape of your life. The skinnier and more fit you are, the taller you’ll look. Fashion-wise, wearing vertical stripes helps to make you look taller. Wearing a dark color like black or dark navy also makes you look thinner.
Problem: Short limbs
Asian people generally have short limbs in comparison to their torso. Your wingspan is generally the width of your height, but some Asian people have arms that are two or more inches shorter than their height.
This is a huge pain because short arms sometimes just won’t fit right into jackets and shirts, and short legs make it hard to buy pants that fit your leg length. Shorter limbs also are less attractive.
Remedy: For girls, again, the high heels help a lot to increase the length of your legs. Tailor your jeans and clothes. Wearing a bracelet helps to extend the length of your arms. Working out and staying slim helps your limbs look longer.
For guys, it’s not a bad idea to pick up some dress shoes that can add a couple of inches of height. This not only helps your height, but it will help your legs to look longer and help you fit your jeans and pants without having to tailor them. But if you’re having significant trouble finding clothes that fit your arm and leg length, then definitely shell out the extra bucks to get them tailored. Wearing a watch or a wristband helps to make your arms look longer if you’re wearing short sleeves.
Small Eyes / Lashes
It’s a stereotype, but unfortunately, it’s also partly true. Some Asians have extremely small eyes. If you’re not one of them, consider yourself lucky.
Remedy: For girls, double eyelid glue can help you accentuate your lids without having to go through eyelid surgery. Of course, double eyelid surgery is a more permanent action to make your eyes look larger and sexier. Definitely learning how to do great make-up helps a lot, and fake lashes are a big part of it as well.
For guys, a good pair of glasses can really make your eyes look larger. Obviously this isn’t for anybody, because a pair of glasses can totally change everyone’s perception of you as a person. But if you have really tiny eyes (like Brock from Pokemon) and you are slightly self-conscious about them, then consider introducing a stylish pair of glasses into your wardrobe.
Lack of Cleavage
This is obviously a super generalization because there are many Asian women who do have sexy cleavage, but you and I both know that Asian girls tend to lack in the boob department. If you’re not one of them then consider yourself lucky.
Remedy: Push-up bras, and invisible bra stuffers. Push-up bras can give you up to two more cups of size, while bra stuffers push your boobs up to give the illusion of cleavage. And obviously fake boobs help. But keep it classy. A C-cup is more than enough, especially if you have a smaller frame.
Flat Butt
Flat butts aren’t the thing according to Sir Mix Alot, and unfortunately Asian women and men tend to have flat butts.
Remedy: For both girls and guys there are amazing exercises you can do to increase the size of your butt muscles and get them a little more toned. Find exercises that target the glutes. There are several work-out machines that will do the trick.
For girls, heels help a lot to bolster the size of your butt because of the way you’re standing. There are also butt inserts you could wear, but wearing those is a little extreme.
For guys, listen, it’s not big of a deal. Yes having a flat butt isn’t going to help you attract the ladies (or the men), but it’s also not going to hurt you as much, especially since men’s clothes in general aren’t as snugly fit and can hide a flat butt.
