In 1997 Maggie Q won the “Best Body” award her senior year while she attended Mililani High School. This along with what we predict started a huge sexism lawsuit aimed at the yearbook staff at her school, foresaw what we would all soon learn about Maggie Q; she has a body that just won’t quit.
Born Margaret Denise Quigley to a Vietnamese mother and Polish/Irish father in Honolulu Hawaii, the superstar later known as Maggie Q would enter the modeling world and thus kickstart her career at the tender age of 17. At this point Margaret had dropped out of college due to financial reasons and on whim traveled overseas to Asia to pursue a modeling career.
This career led her to Japan, Taiwan, and eventually Hong Kong where she would be picked up by none other than Jackie Chan himself where she was put through intensive training in acting and even martial arts to become an international superstar.
While in Hong Kong Maggie Q would star in successful feature films such as Naked Weapon and Gen-Y Cops, the latter a film that impressed Jackie Chan so much it resulted in Maggie being cast in Rush Hour 2.
After starring in her own features such as the aforementioned Naked Weapon where she played a female assassin, Hollywood came calling with high demand for her ability to portray strong yet sexy female characters with a deadly past.
Maggie would win roles in movies such as Mission: Impossible III and Live Freed or Die Hard before landing the role she is most known for today, her starring role in the television hit series Nikita.
From 2010-2013 Maggie Q played the titular character of Nikita, Nikita Mears, an ex-U.S,s government trained black ops assassin/spy looking to take down the organization that created her. The series proved to be a success. Although a reboot of the popular 1997 television series La Femme Nikita which itself was based off the popular 1990 Luc Besson film Nikita, with Maggie Q at the helm, flourished in the series with such a storied fan base without becoming stale. She was able to bring a unique twist to the series and helped give it a much needed modern boost.
After Nikita wrapped up in 2013, Maggie Q has been busy starring in films such as the Divergent series and doesn’t appear to be slowing down at all in her rise to superstardom. She has a new starring role in the CBS drama Stalker and continues her work to stop animal cruelty with her involvement with PETA.
