Cheri:
Hello — my name is Cheri. I’m 22 years old and I’ll be 23 this coming August. I pretty much do *everything*. Modeling, photography, writing, makeup artistry, art, gaming. You name it, I’m pretty sure I’ve done it. I’m really laid back and down to earth so I love to just chill and relax with the homies, but I can be a real high-maintenance princess sometimes and I hate it when I don’t get my way. But for the most part? I’m just crazy little me.

what would you consider to be your career, or what you are most known for?

Cheri:
I’m pretty well known for my blog as well as my makeup channel on Youtube, and a lot of my fans and readers are incredibly supportive. If any of them are reading this now, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF THE MOTIVATING AND ENCOURAGING WORDS!! You’re the best!

You model as well?

Cheri:
I set aside time for modeling if the right opportunity comes along.

You do blogging and the make-up channel and modeling, do those all pay the bills or do you have a day job?

Cheri:
All of those definitely pay the bills, thank goodness! I worked hard to market myself for my unique talents, and it’s really starting to show. Woo!

So you are kind of a self entrepreneur, how did you get started doing those and what made you realize that you didn’t need a dayjob?

Cheri:
Oh man. Basically, when I see an opportunity that I know will lead to a bright future? I hop on that shit. I never let good things pass me by because I would *hate* to live with the regret of knowing that I missed an amazing chance at something great! So when my blog started to take off, I started getting a lot of feedback from readers to pursue this, pursue that, etc. And I honestly would not have felt as motivated to do everything as I do now if not for them. And it’s when I started seeing income from sponsors, advertisers, etc, that I broke away from working “for the man”. I now set my own schedule and do whatever-the-eff I want!

So what came first, the makeup channel or the blog?

Cheri:
The blog, definitely. I post about a lot of crap on there (sex, partying, boys & relationships, friends, drama, shopping, whatever), but when I started posting about makeup that I was using, people seemed crazy-interested. And then I mentioned that maybe I would start a youtube channel with tutorials on how I apply my different looks, and people were all over it. Like, “DO IT!” “We’d love to see!” “Please let us know when you get it up!” So I had to give them what they wanted.

Your blog is super interesting I was reading it the other day, but I looked at the “sex” category and only saw 1 post.

Cheri:
LOL! I had to take some things down because I was recently hired to work for Ubisoft Entertainment (they’re the videogame company responsible for games like Prince of Persia, Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell, etc), and they need me to maintain a more clean image. So my blog is definitely not as crazy as it used to be. But damn, I used to write some messed up stuff, haha!

DAMN you need to get that stuff back up on there, I was like this is too tame for me.

Cheri:
I know, right?! I had this whole entry about dildos and vibrators and shit, HAHA! It was pretty popular. I was basically encouraging girls to stop being slutty and pick up a fake penis.

AmpedAsia.com: So you post some pretty intimate stuff on there, what if a guy you like reads things about him?

Cheri:
Also, I’m not too worried about the guy I’m into reading my journal. I’m not stupid. Like, I won’t put something up there that I don’t want him to read. And when I need to write my feelings about someone without everyone finding out about it, I have my hand-written diaries! That way, I don’t go insane holding it all in.

Back to Ubisoft, what did they hire you to do?

Cheri:
My official title is “Frag Doll Cadette”. Pretty much, it’s like this 6-month internship with Ubisoft towards working with the Frag Dolls. They’re the female pro gamers who represent the company. They compete professionally in gaming (mostly FPS games), and travel the world going to different events like E3, Penny Arcade Expo, Comic Con, etc. I basically get to do what they do for about 6 months!

Oh wow that sounds sweet, so let’s talk more about your gaming stuff. What games do you play?

Cheri:
Well, right now I’m kind of obsessed with my iPhone games. LOL! But I know that doesn’t count. So to get more serious … MW2, FFXIII, any Katamari game, Uncharted 1 & 2, any Ratchet & Clank game, Fallout, Oblivion, Fable, etc. Also, whatever DS game I can get my hands on.

How good are you at MW2?

Cheri:
I’m alright! I’m not the total shit or anything, but it’s a game that I play constantly & I’m pretty sure I’m above average (as in, I could probably kick YOUR ass). I’m usually playing Search & Destroy Hardcore, or any other hardcore game. I have a lot of homies that play it, so it’s fun to chill in the lobby with them if one of us dies.

Ok back to your business ventures, what right now is raking in the most money for you and how does it make money?

Cheri:
Probably my blog. It gets a lot of hits, and thanks to advertising and people willing to have me publicize their crap (I’m pretty picky with who I advertise on my blog — I won’t talk about stuff that sucks), I’m able to make a good living off of it. My makeup channel is a HUGE income market if I would just freakin’ get around to posting every now and then. Basically, I’m partnered on Youtube because people apparently really like my personality for some crazy reason and subscribe the shit out of me. So my ratings, views, and subscriber count are high enough to earn me some moolah. Like I said! Wouldn’t be where I am today if not for my amazing fans who still stick around even when I’m not putting out fresh material.

what does the future hold? Are you going to continue doing the web thing or are you going to pursue other fields?

Cheri:
My goal is to become a well-known media personality and hopefully make it onto TV Hosting for shows like G4 (I’d really love to be a female host on that show — it’s so friggin’ up my alley). Or maybe Radio DJ, or any sort of Broadcast Journalism. I want to be involved with the media! I’ve been basically working that field hands-on my whole life, and my internet resume alone is proof of it. Just googling “heycheri” will get you a MASSIVE search result.
I’m trying to brand the “heycheri” name.

So what about modeling, is that something else you want to pursue? or even acting maybe?

Cheri:
Oh my god, I’d love to get into acting one day. And modeling isn’t really totally my gig — like, I’m a camera whore, sure. I’ll jump at any opportunity to be in a picture. And I pride myself on being totally photogenic, but … I just don’t think I’m tall enough for that sort of thing? I’m only 5’1, dude. Come on. Haha. If I get famous enough one day maybe, modeling will be in my future. But it will never be my main gig. That’s why I don’t like to claim that I’m a model. I just don’t really fit into that area.

Definitely single. Single, single, single, single, single!!

Cheri:
Because boys are fuckin’ crazy, dude! First they’re like, “Oooh, let’s be together.” And then they’re like, “Oh my god, it’s moving too fast.” Or they’re like, “You’re too famous! I can’t handle all of the attention!” Like, wtf?! Get a grip, man! I’m not famous, first of all. And second of all, don’t get into it with me if you don’t plan on it going anywhere. I have better things to do with my time than sit here and stress over some dumb guy who doesn’t know what he wants. Grow up, oh my god.

Basically, being single has been the most beneficial thing to my career.

Cheri:
To my career in general. As a blogger, as a gamer, a model — everything.

LOL! His name wasn’t a single letter. It was just a code name. I have a lot of psycho-ass stalkers and haters. Like, the type that spend every waking moment obsessing over me and everything I do, maintaining blogs that are all about me, sending messages to all of my fans, friends, and even employers to try and make me out to be a bad person — they work really hard. I basically have my own tabloids at this point. They’ve even called my house before, and spend a lot of time trying to find out who my family members are, etc etc. Basically, if you are affiiliated with me, you will probably feel the wrath of my stalkers. They. Are. Literally. Insane. Lol.

HAHA! They would definitely be my paparazzi if they knew where I lived or knew where I was at all times! I try not to make it public where I’m going unless it’s somewhere huge and filled with lots of people. That way, they can’t find me.

Did you ever go to college?

Cheri:
Yes. I’m not currently in class right now, though.

What did you study?

Cheri:
Broadcast Journalism, Marketing, and Communications. And some of my favorite classes were Psychology and Sociology. For obvious reasons. I’m very much a people person.

Did you end up with a degree?

Cheri:
Not yet! I haven’t finished.

First … Okay, so I need a guy who’s socially free enough to be around every single type of person. I know so many different types of people, and I need someone to be as likeable as I am, basically. I also would really appreciate someone who doesn’t mind being in front of a camera. In the line of work that I do, there are cameras going off a lot. Whether it’s my own, or at an event, etc. Also …

Someone tall. He needs to be tall. And smart. Like, witty enough to keep a decent conversation going, and to flow easily into conversation with me. And he can’t be too much of a showoff. I haaate guys that brag too much! Like, a little bit here and there is fine, but damn. Shut up, cocky.

My number one dating tip? BE YOUR GODDAMN SELF. You will *never* impress a girl by acting like something that you’re not. Girls can tell when a guy is trying too hard to please her, or is wearing something that he’s not comfortable in, or is acting completely opposite of what he’s normally like. The girl that likes you will want you for who you are — not what you are pretending to be. If she begins to date you for this mask that you’ve put on, then when she finds out what you’re really like, she’ll be DISGUSTED with you and think that the whole thing was a lie. Please just embrace who you are and be CONFIDENT about who you are as a person. Are you nerdy? Are you really into some weird kinda’ hobby? Don’t be ashamed of it. Rock that shit and be proud of everything that you do. Confidence is incredibly sexy. Never apologize for who you are. NEVER.

So describe what your typical day is like, when you’re working and having fun. Are you like a partier every night, getting wasted, what?

Cheri:
HAHA!! Some people see my pictures and think I’m a crazy partier, but I’m really not. I kind of hate going out to bars and clubs. I just don’t like to be surrounded by a bunch of drunk people who all have the same mentality and goal in mind — to fuck. Plus, I just don’t like to make a name for myself as a party girl. But I can’t help it that when I’m out with my friends, I’m dressed to impress and cameras are going off, so all of my pictures look like they’re from partying nonstop!!
I would so much rather be at an event where I can network and make important connections, or be surrounded by bright inviduals and successful people. Because then I feel productive. When I’m out partying, I’m just like, “Oh god, surrounded by losers. I can’t take this.”
So on a typical daaay …
I wake up, maybe drink some coffee, maybe eat some breakfast. And then I spend all day networking, promoting myself, and seeking new opportunities. Most of my day is spent just getting my name out there.

Usually how do you go about “getting your name out there.”

Cheri:
I maintain my website. Correspond with fans. Take the time to answer all of their questions, acknowledge their suggestions, thank them for their motivating and sweet words (I love them so damn much, you have no idea, lol). And then there’s always sending emails out to various companies that I want to work with, or putting new photos of myself out there on the web, etc. I’m constantly supplying the world with fresh “ME” material so that everyone can see my growth. Reminding everyone that I exist. Never becoming this stagnant thing that goes nowhere. I aggressively go after my goals and I refuse to not get what I want.
